National Assembly Speaker, Thandi Modise, is to oppose Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s application to halt the process to declare her unfit to hold office.
COPE says it has chosen Judge President of the Gauteng High Court Dunstan Mlambo to serve on the panel of experts to assess if there is prima facie evidence to justify a full-scale inquiry into the fitness of Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane to hold office.
Political parties must, on Friday, submit names of persons to serve on the independent panel that will kick off the process that could see the Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, removed from office.
National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise has confirmed that Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s lawyers will serve them with court papers to halt the process to initiate her possible removal from office.
President Cyril Ramaphosa’s lawyers say the review matter before the High Court in Pretoria, between him and Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane should not be seen as a case of liability but of ethics.
