Suspension of long distance taxis at Ladysmith extended

The KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Mxolisi Kaunda has extended the suspension of long distance taxis at Ladysmith in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.

The operations were suspended for six months since December last year.

This after the killing of more than 60 people in the area due to the feud between Klipriver and Sizwe Transport.

The taxi operations have been suspended for another six months pending an agreement between the two associations.

Kaunda says: “The conditions are due to the fact that we expected the two associations led by SANTACO to negotiate as well as reach consensus on ensuring that there is stability in the area and that it will be maintained.”
