Suspended ANC deputy convener Ngwenya says suspension is politically motivated, plans to appeal decision

The suspended African National Congress (ANC) Ehlanzeni deputy convener, Michael Ngwenya, says he is going to appeal the decision to suspend him at the party’s national office in Johannesburg.

Ngwenya says his suspension is politically motivated. He claims that it is aimed at preventing him from participating in the ANC’s provincial conference.

Ngwenya allegedly mobilised people earlier this year to go to Nkandla to support former President Jacob Zuma when he was jailed for ignoring a constitutional court order to appear before the State Capture Commission.

Activities outside Zuma’s home in Nkandla as his arrest is imminent:

Ngwenya says the allegations levelled against him are baseless.

“We are going to appear, and after, we will give them 14 days to respond.  If they don’t respond,  we are taking the matter to the High Court because it is not the first time. Each and every conference they suspend me. Charles Makola suspended me when he was contesting comrade D. This matter is political, you see it was formed in faction, ” says Ngwenya.
