Police are still searching for other suspects who managed to evade the arrest.

Eight suspects, arrested for allegedly planning a cash-in-transit heist in Rustenburg in the North West, are expected to apply for bail in the local magistrate’s court on Friday morning.

The suspects were arrested in Kroondal, outside Rustenburg, before they could commit the crime.

The eight suspects were found at a house in Kroondal. Upon realising the police’s presence, they fled the scene in four vehicles.

Police gave chase and they were later, arrested.

During the arrest, four vehicles, including two sedans, a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), a mini-bus, and an assault rifle with rounds of ammunition were confiscated.

Police are still searching for other suspects who managed to evade arrest.

They are facing charges, which includes conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of a prohibited firearm, ammunition and possession of suspected stolen vehicles.
