Suspect arrested for murder of four people at the Joe Slovo taxi rank

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of four people at the Joe Slovo taxi rank in Milnerton, Cape Town last week.

The shooting is linked to conflict in the taxi industry. Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa says the 41-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Potelwa says detectives from the provincial Taxi Violence Unit seized a firearm during the arrest of the suspect.

“The suspect from Nyanga is allegedly linked to a shooting incident that occurred at the Joe Slovo taxi rank where three persons were killed last Wednesday. A fourth victim died in hospital after sustaining serious gunshot wounds. The suspect is facing murder and attempted murder charges.” says Potelwa.
