Surprise Ralani’s goodwill games kick-off on Friday

Cape Town City winger Bradley Ralani, known as Surprise Ralani, will be hosting a soccer tournament in his home town of Kimberley in the Northern Cape.

Ralani, who hails from the Diamond City, is giving back to his community with the Surprise Ralani Goodwill Games.

The tournament will be hosted at the Galeshewe Stadium and kicks-off Friday until Monday the 17,th bringing much joy to the sports starved town.

Ralani,who has only being playing in the PSL for two seasons,  shares that Kagisho “Spakes” Matile encouraged him to start the tournament four years back.

Matile is a well-known local football coach in Kimberley, who has unearthed many soccer jewels from the township.

In the past season, the 31-year old played in 24 league and cup matches, where he netted three goals.

The player admits that his local government has not offered any assistance and that his team offered a helping hand.

Before plying his trade in South Africa, Ralani spend eight years in Europe playing in Sweden and Denmark.

The last team he played for before returning to Mzansi was Helsingborg IF, a team in Sweden’s Allsvenskan league.

Other well-known soccer names from Kimberley are teammate Thato Mokeke and the well known Henyekane brothers, Joseph and Richard,  who died in 2014 and 2015 respectively only five months apart. Ralani says he feels no pressure from his community. – Report by Tshenolo Meruti
