Sports channel, SuperSport has said it views the incident that happened on its television set Saturday in a very serious light and will conduct a full investigation into the matter.
Former Springbok Ashwin Willemse walked off a SuperSport set during post analysis of a Super Rugby clash.
He was apparently upset after a disagreement with fellow analysts Nick Mallet and Naas Botha.
The incident followed the Lions’ 42-24 win over the Brumbies at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
Willemse said he felt patronised by Mallet and Botha.
SuperSport host Motshidisi Mohono called the incident “unfortunate” as Willemse put down his papers and walked off camera.
In a matter of minutes the video clip went viral on social media.
SuperSport says it is aware of the incident involving its analysts.
This is both fantastic and tragic because Mallet and Naas needed to be called out, but @Ashwinwillemse is precisely the kind of person we need in that studio – a black rugby man who can speak his mind because he isn’t dependent on a Supersport salary. #ASHWINWILLEMSE pic.twitter.com/YhWFIlRZNW
