Mamelodi Sundowns are five points clear at the top of the Absa Premiership table after a goalless draw against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Sundowns have 35 points, ahead of Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City on 30 points.

Pirates earlier beat Platinum Stars 2-0 in Phokeng.

Zambian forward Justin Shonga scored his first goal for Pirates in the 28th minute.

Thembinkosi Lorch made it 2-nil after wasting a good opportunity to score minutes earlier.

This was a good present for club chairman, Irvin Khoza, who celebrated his 70th birthday on Sartuday.

In last night’s other match, Bidvest Wits continued their comeback with a 4-1 win over SuperSport United at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.
