Sundowns, Swallows FC still unbeaten in the DSTV Premiership

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Mamelodi Sundowns and Swallows FC remain unbeaten in the DSTV Premiership after 13 matches played. On Saturday, the Dube Birds found the back of the net in stoppage time to claim a point away to the Brazilians in a one-all draw at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, Gauteng.

Sundowns remain top of the log, while Swallows are second, with the two sides level on 27 points – the Brazilians ahead on goal difference rule. A top-of-the-table clash between defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, and top flight returnees, Swallows FC, headlined this weekend’s DSTV Premiership fixtures.

The Dube birds have been the surprise package in this campaign so far, coming into this clash tied on 26 points with the Brazilians. The two sides were looking to bounce back after draws in their midweek games.

Also, they were looking to maintain their unbeaten record in this campaign. The Brazilians were the first to ask questions. The Dube Birds were not to be outdone as they also pushed bodies forward.

Gaston Sirino was keen to make an impact as he was given a chance in the starTing lineup. Just after the half hour mark, Sundowns won set-piece.

Like they did against Orlando Pirates in Soweto two weeks ago, the Dube Birds scored the equaliser deep into stoppage time. The final score: Mamelodi Sundowns 1, Swallows FC 1.

In another match, Chippa United beat Black Leopards 3 nil in Thohoyandou.
