Mamelodi Sundowns bounced back to winning ways in emphatic fashion.

The Brazilians are now in eighth spot with Pirates in seventh after they beat the Buccanneers 3-1 at Orlando Stadium in Soweto. Captain Hlompo Kekana was the catalyst for the victory when he put his side ahead in just the second minute. After 13 minutes the visitors were 2-nil up.

Marc van Heerden scored from the set piece after Thabo Qalinge was brought down on the edge of the area.

Sundowns though were up to the task in the second half to defend their lead and Anthony Laffor ensured the dominant scoreline with the third in the final minute of injury time.

On other matches played Wednesday, Baroka FC are two points clear at the top of the Absa Premiership log after a one all draw with Amazulu in KZN on Wednesday night.

Cape Town City returned to winning form as they defeated Free State Stars 1-0.

Having suffered back-to-back league losses claimed all three points in this clash thanks to a late strike from Taariq Fielies. Samuel Julies came off the bench to score his first Absa Premiership goals since 2012 and help Chippa United to a 2-0 win over Bidvest Wits in Johannesburg.
