Sundowns beat Arrows to move to the top of the log

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Mamelodi Sundowns beat Golden Arrows 2-0 in a league match at Loftus Versfeld stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday night, to move to the top of the log.

Hlompho Kekana and Themba Zwane scored for the PSL champions within five minutes.

Both teams wasted several opportunities in the second half. Sundowns Coach Pitso Mosimane says they were exhausted in the second half.

Sundowns now have 56 points from 29 matches with only one match to go.

They will play their final match against Free State Stars at the Goble Park stadium in Bethlehem on Saturday afternoon. Mosimane was happy with the results.

Arrows lost to Sundowns 1-0 in the first match in Durban. They will remain in tenth place on the log with 36 points from 29 matches.

Their coach Steve Komphela says their aim was to survive in the league this season.

Arrows will host Bidvest Wits in their last match of the season on Saturday.

They still have an opportunity to finish in the top eight position if they beat Wits provided the teams on top of them drop points on the last day.

Komphela is still hopeful of top eight finish. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
