Stormers to play against Jaguares on Saturday

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Although the Stormers are missing several of their Springbok players, Coach Robbie Fleck is full of confidence ahead of their opening Super Rugby match against the Jaguares at Newlands on Saturday.

It’s imperative that the Stormers start well before they go on tour and play one match in Australia and two matches in New Zealand.

The Stormers have been hard at work in the off-season ahead of another gruelling season of Super Rugby.

Without stalwarts like Eben Etzebeth and Pieter Steph du Toit , Fleck knows the importance of getting off to a winning start before they go on tour and play the Waratahs, Crusaders and Highlanders.

“It’s massively important to win your first, especially as we got to go to Australia and New Zealand we will be challenged as a group we need to get on that plane nice and confident.”

Springbok wing Raymond Rule will make his debut for the Stormers as will Carlu Sadie, George Whitehead and JJ Engelbrecht off the bench.

Dewaldt Duvenage and Damian Willemse form the half back pairing with Damian de Allende and EW Viljoen the centres while Dillyn Leyds is at fullback and Sevens star Seabelo Senatla on the wing.

With these exciting backs, the Stormers will want to entertain their supporters.

The Cape team have a powerful front row with Wilco Louw and Steven Kitshoff and a potent back row in Captain Siya Kolisi, Cobus Wiese and Nizaam Carr.

Kick off at Newlands on Saturday afternoon is at five past three.
