Stellenbosch FC seeking first win as they head to Wits

Newly-promoted Stellenbosch FC are still looking for their first win in the Absa Premiership, after two draws and a narrow loss in their first three games.

On Wednesday they will face Bidvest Wits away as that quest continues, and their coach, Steve Barker, knows it will not be an easy game against a Wits side who are currently second on the log table.

Barker says they will need to tread cautiously but hopes that his team can break the duck at the Bidvest Stadium.

Barker admits it is concerning that his team is yet to score a goal in their three games, but he is confident that it will come soon.

Stellenbosch have three injury concerns currently, with Junior Awono, Tshireletso Motsogi and Chad Roman still recovering.

Barker also says he hopes to have Nyiko Mobbie available by Wednesday, as they just need to complete the paperwork before Mobbie’s loan move from Mamelodi Sundowns is complete.

Barker feels that Mobbie, who just joined Sundowns from relegated Free State Stars, will add the right depth to his squad. – Report by Rob Delport
