The family of Reeva Steenkamp says it is hoping for justice in the state’s appeal regarding the jail term of convicted Paralympian Oscar Pistorius.

Friday the state will argue in the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein for a lengthier sentence for the former athlete.

Pistorius was sentenced to six years in prison for the murder of Steenkamp in February 2013.

Steenkamp’s mother June is attending the proceedings.

Steenkamp family lawyer Tania Koen says, “They want to say that they believe in the justice system and they support the state and the law must run its course and what’s happening this morning is part of the process the legal process. What they focussing on is to continue Reevas legacy with the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation.”
