More State Capture arrests to follow: Mbalula

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has hinted that more arrests in allegations of State Capture will follow. The Hawks last week raided several premises including the home of the controversial Gupta family and several other government offices in the Free State.

Eight people have already appeared in court while a manhunt has been launched for five others. The arrests are related to allegations of fraud and corruption at the Estina dairy farm project in Vrede in the Free State where it is alleged that money meant for empowerment was siphoned off to the Gupta family.

Mbalula says President Cyril Ramaphosa’s stance on corruption will make the police to work even harder.

“They must know that the rule of law will grind in this particular instance. And I can assure you that will be more bombs that are coming in the so-called State Capture reports. Police have never put their foot down. The goodwill that is there and the new president that says chase them I want a corruption free South Africa, it will amplify the work of the police to do their work without fear or favour which is important for RSA.”

On Sunday, Mbalula was interviewed about the Gupta investigations, watch below:
