Baroka are winless in their last four league outings and are third from bottom with eight points from nine matches.

Baroka FC head coach Wedson Nyirenda says Mamelodi Sundowns’ recent performance and results make them dangerous. He was speaking ahead of his side’s Absa Premiership clash with Sundowns at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday. Kick-off at 19:30.

Baroka are winless in their last four league outings and are third from bottom with eight points from nine matches.

Sundowns lost last time to Kaizer Chiefs and are second on the log with 17 points and a game in hand. Nyirenda says the stakes are high for both sides.

Nyirenda admits that goal scoring remains a challenge in his side. The last time the Limpopo side found the back of the net was in the 2-1 loss to Highlands Park in September.

The coach says he is concerned however he is comforted by new combinations tried in training in the last two weeks. Nyirenda hopes that new signing Prince Nxumalo will bring solutions upfront.

Put under pressure about Nxumalo’s availability for tonight’s encounter Nyirenda says the former Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits forward has impressed in training and should start the game.

Tonight’s fixture is Baroka’s 100th league game since their promotion to the Premier Soccer League in 2016.

The Zambian mentor says Bakgaga chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has told the team how important a milestone it is.

Nyirenda hopes there will be more green shirts in the stands that will have a positive impact on his side. – Report by Lethabo Kganyago
