Rand Water, has imposed stage one water restrictions in all areas within the City of Tshwane’s jurisdiction.

Initially restrictions were implemented in only three regions following a drop in the metro’s reservoir levels.

City of Tshwane spokesperson, Lindela Mashigo, the restrictions is inevitable and is the only viable option to prevent the distribution network from collapsing.

He says the restrictions have been implemented with immediate effect.

“The city reiterates its plea to all residents to reduce water consumption. Residents are thus reminded of the following specific water restrictions. Do not water or irrigate gardens with a hosepipe or sprinkler system between 06:00 and 18:00. Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes or high-pressure systems. Do not fill swimming pools,” adds Mashigo.

In July, the City of Tshwane dispatched extra water tankers to areas experiencing shortages. following an explosion at Rand Water’s Palmiet pump station in Alberton.
