The Electoral Commission (IEC) says although home visits for special voting is on schedule, there is a chance that it will not be completed by the end of voting on Tuesday.

Officials all over the country have been visiting the homes of those who were granted special home visits in order to cast their ballots. These include the elderly, infirm and pregnant women.

IEC Deputy Chief electoral officer, Mawethu Mosery says those who do not get home visits on Tuesday can go to their nearest polling station on Wednesday where they will receive special attention by the officials in order to cast their vote.

“The province that has the highest number of home visits is the Eastern Cape where they had 85 000 home visit applications and 77 000 in KwaZulu-Natal. Yesterday the final report we received is that 35 000 were reached in KwaZulu-Natal and a similar number in the Eastern Cape.”

“We hope that the remaining numbers we can reach by end of the day today. But obviously if we do not reach any voter today, we encouraging those voters to come to the station and we will give them special attention when they arrive,” Mosery explains.
