The Southern Kings will face off against the Welsh outfit, Cardiff Blues in their opening match of the PRO14 rugby tournament.

The Kings will play a home game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

With numerous off season signings, they are hoping that this will be a better season than the last one.

The Port Elizabeth-based outfit endured a tough 12-week pre-season conditioning program and had three warm-up games to get them ready for this northern and southern hemisphere tournament.

Assistant coach, Vuyo Zangqo says they’re focusing on an attacking game.

“In terms of the attack, we (can) definitely say we want to put something out there. We want to make a statement. We want to make sure that the other teams get worried when they play us. Working with Braam, working with Robbie, we still want to play in the right parts of the field. And that’s the aim, that’s why Demitri is there to put us in the right positions. I’m hoping that we’ll play more in their half and actually play some exciting rugby.”
