South Africans urged to embrace Mama Winnie’s ideals

Presidential spokesperson Khuselwa Diko says in celebrating Mama Winnie’s life, South Africans should make sure that they always continue to live up to the ideals that she and her generation would have wanted the South African government and the citizens to live up to.

This comes as the official memorial service of the late struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela which will begin at 11 o’clock will take place at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Wednesday.

Diko says that South Africans should not let the life of Mama Winnie have been in vain.

“There were particular things she was passionate about, amongst others, the issue of returning the land to the people, the fight against state capture and corruption and in celebrating her life we should always make sure that we live up to those ideals.”

Deputy Director-General of the GCIS Phumla Williams says they have about 50 buses to transport people to the stadium and people are encouraged to park their cars at Nasrec Expo Centre and use the shuttles that will transport them from the Centre to the stadium.
