South Africa says…

Reading Time: 2 minutes

More than half of South African adults believe that President Zuma, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and the National Government are doing their jobs very or fairly well.

Fifty one percent of the adults who participated in a research survey by Ipsos say the President is doing a fairly good job while only 48% believe that Ramaphosa is also doing well. 53% of the participants believe that National Government is doing a good fairly good job.

Ipsos interviewed about 3,608 randomly chosen adult South Africans in September and October of 2014 in their homes and home languages.

SABC Digital News spoke to residents of Cape Town. We asked them what they would say if they were the President.

Armstrong Ndiki says if he was the president he would listen to the ordinary South Africans. “I would listen to the people of South African wants. And not just do any promises that cannot be fulfilled but I would go and listen to the people,” says Ndiki.

University student from CPU Yolanda Msigane, says her main focus as the president would be unemployment among the youth.

“I would look at the employment side because so many youth study at universities and high school yet they are still unemployed,” says Msingane.

Linda Albung from Cape Town High says she would promise the nation houses. “If I was the president I would promise people houses. I would do the promises he [President Zuma] always does, I would do them for everyone,” says Albung.

Kerryn Bell-Roberts says she would focus on nation building by urging society to stand together and work towards a better South Africa.

“There is already so much diversity in society at the moment; I really think it starts at the bottom with each of us standing together as a nation to move forward. I do not think anything can be solved unless we stand together as a nation,” Bell-Roberts says.
