South Africa reports 56 more COVID-19 related deaths

South Africa has recorded 1 632 new coronavirus infections in the last 24-hour cycle. This has increased the total number of infections in the country to 1 582 842.

The Health Department has also reported 56 new COVID-19 related fatalities. This brings the total number of deaths to 54 406.
“Eastern Cape 12, Free State 20, Gauteng 11, KwaZulu Natal 2, Limpopo 6, Mpumalanga 0, North West 0, Northern Cape 3 and Western Cape 2,” a statement from the department reads.
The recoveries stand at 1 506 732, representing a recovery rate of 95%.
The number of Health Care Workers Vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol to date is 318 670.
