Durban Ultra Triathlon to affect motorists: Metro police

The eThekwini Metro police in Kwazulu-Natal have warned motorists of major road closures for the Durban Ultra Triathlon on Sunday.

The M4 Northern Freeway, northbound is scheduled to be closed from 4am to 1pm from Sandile Thusi Road, formerly known as Argyle Road to the M41 La Lucia turnoff.

This will be just one of the major roads that are set to be closed for the Triathlon.

Metro police spokesperson Parboo Sewpersad has urged motorists to use alternative routes.

“The Southbound carriageway incoming into Durban will be open however, motorists are urged to comply with all police officers’ instructions. There will also be around the Moses Mabhida, Kings Park Rugby stadium prescient, there will be lots of road closure and lane closures in that vicinity. Motorists are urged to stay away from the Prescient on Masabalal Yengwa Avenue, between Mnr Avenue and Goble Road.”

Sewpersad says there are alternative routes available for motorists.

“Motorists are currently advising to use the following alternative routes, N2, R102, North Coast Road, North way and Umhlanga rocks drive.”

Ultra Triathlon

The exciting Ultra Triathlon Series is now in its 12th year. There is the Ultra Tri consisting of 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and 21km run.

There is also the Sprint Tri consisting of 600m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.
