Soham Baba takes cleaning campaign to school children

Reading Time: 2 minutes

School children from Livingstone Primary School in Durban got their hands dirty this morning as they cleaned the streets and “up-cycled” waste by creating art work.
The project, initiated by a Himalayan spiritual leader, Shri Shri Soham Baba, aims to teach children the importance of saving the environment. Soham Baba, who lives in the caves of the Himalayas, says he has come to COP 17 to tell leaders about the effects of global warming.
“I also came here to COP 17 in Durban to convey my experiences, to share my experiences with all of you, all the world leaders and thinkers and especially the youth of the world – that in the last 22 years with me living in the Himalayas at the high altitude what I have witnessed there is lots of change in the ecosystem in the Himalayas. The glaciers are melting, the change in the biodiversity, all the birds they don’t fly anymore, all the beautiful plants don’t grow anymore.”
Meanwhile, children at the school were excited to learn how to reuse their waste. “We went on the streets we collected litter and turning the litter into art work – we collected litter with his holiness now we are gonna stop littering – thank you Soham Baba,” says one of the school children.
