Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery unveils Obamas official portraits

The portraits of former U.S. President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle were unveiled at a Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery event in Washington on Monday .

The Obamas along with artists Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald gave brief remarks before posing for photos.

The portraits will be on display at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery alongside other portraits of former U.S. presidents in a tradition that started some 50 years ago and has in recent years incorporated former first ladies to the gallery.
