Small business owners in Polokwane say the suspension of operations at the Enterprise Factory is affecting them.

This comes after Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi revealed on Sunday that processed meat at the plant is the source of the Listeriosis outbreak.

Small business owners are part of a group of consumers who gathered outside the manufacturing plant. Most small businesses buy their meat products at the plant.

Earlier workers at the plant held a meeting following the revelations.

“It is a disaster for small businesses because the Minister said people should not buy bunny chows, so we don’t have a business anymore, the livelihood is gone and the situation is very bad for me.”

Management at the Enterprise manufacturing plant has promised to offer refunds to disgruntled consumers. Management came out of a meeting to address consumers, who had gathered outside the factory with their products.
