Former Transnet CEO Siyabonga Gama is among the five former company executives that are appearing in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud, corruption, and money laundering.

Gama together with Garry Pita, Phetolo Ramosebudi, Daniel Roy, and Eric Wood are applying for bail.

The Commission of Inquiry into State Capture has in the second volume of its report implicated Gama, Anoj Singh, and Brian Molefe in wrongdoing.

The report recommended that Gama’s reinstatement to Transnet be further investigated, saying it could amount to corruption. The five former executives are also charged with contravening the Public Finance Management Act.

ID | 5 former senior executives at Transnet have been arrested by the Hawks and ID, after handing themselves in at the Brackendowns Police Station this morning. They will appear before Palm Ridge Magistrates’ Court sitting as the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.
