Reading Time: < 1 minute

The 16 suspects arrested in connection with the robbery and vandalism at the Eersterust police station during the service delivery protests last week will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s court on Monday.

A group of residents entered the station and robbed duty officers of a Plasma TV, computers and a service pistol.

They also broke the widows and threw two petrol bombs into the station’s Client Service Centre but they failed to explode.

Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says, “The 16 will be appearing before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court. One will be facing a charge of possession of dagga. 12 will be facing a charge of attacking the police station, while three will be facing a charge of suspected stolen property, stolen while they were looting shops during the protests.”
