Six slain George family members to be laid to rest on Friday

The six members of the George family who were murdered last week, will be buried on Friday at Tshisane Village in the Eastern Cape.

Five of the victims were gunned down in their beds in the early hours of Wednesday last week week. Prior to that a young man was also hacked to death.

The premier of the Eastern Cape, Oscar Mabuyane, also indicated that he will attend the funeral.

Five men, four brothers and their cousin, are in custody in connection with the murder.

They appeared in court briefly again on Thursday and the case was postponed to the 19th of January. They are expected to apply for bail at their next appearance.

Swift arrests

Meanwhile, the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene hailed the work of the detectives in the swift arrest of four suspects believed to be involved in the family killings.

The investigation continues.
