Six die in Johannesburg crash

Six people have lost their lives including a child when a minibus taxi in which they were travelling, crashed against the metal centre barrier on the M2 Highway, east of Johannesburg.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Services says two other passengers sustained critical injuries and nine sustained serious but stable injuries.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

Emergency spokesperson, William Ntladi says the injured people were transported to Betha Xowa Hospital, Charlotte Maxeke Hospital and Hillbrow clinic in Johannesburg.

Metro Police officers of Ekurhuleni, SAPS accident unit together with provincial traffic officers collectivley investigated the crash on scene.

It is still unknown what could have led to the crash.
