Situation still volatile in Cato Crest, Durban following the murder of ANC ward Candidate

The situation is volatile at Cato Crest in Durban following the murder of African National Congress (ANC) ward candidate, Siyabonga Mkhize, on Friday night.

Mkhize and another ANC member were shot dead in their vehicle just after conducting a door to door election campaign in the area.

Two others were rushed to the hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds. Mkhize was the councillor for ward 101 in the eThekwini municipality.

Police said no arrests have been made and the motive for the killing is not yet known.

Meanwhile, the ANC is expected to visit Mkhize’s family this afternoon.
