Students are accusing university management of corruption, involvement in mismanagement of funds and nepotism, they are calling for the removal of some managers from their positions.

The situation remains tense at the University of Mpumalanga’s Mbombela Campus.

Protesting students clashed with security personnel deployed to stabilise the situation at the university. The protests have been going on for two weeks.

Students are accusing university management of corruption, involvement in the mismanagement of funds and nepotism, they are calling for the removal of some managers from their positions.

On Friday, a private company was deployed to quell the protest. Some student leaders were also served with suspension letters.

Students say since the alleged corruption the standard of accommodation provided for those staying off campus has dropped. And meal allowances have been reduced drastically.
