Situation in Senekal remains tense

There was strong police presence when two suspects appeared in court in connection with the murder of farm manager Brendin Horner.

Tensions are rising in Senekal in the Free State as the two murder suspects are due to appear in court on Friday.

Police have managed to prevent a scuffle between the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters and farmers as they continue to monitor the situation in the small town.

Sekwetje Mahlamba and Sekola Matlaletsa are accused of the murder of 21-year-old farm manager Brendin Horner.

They were arrested days after Horner’s body was found tied to a pole at a farm.

In the video below, EFF supporters are marching in Senekal

Thousands of EFF supporters, some ANC members as well as members of a group called Unite Against Farm Murders and Attacks are outside court.

In the video below, farmers were making their way into Senekal:

There was a scuffle when EFF members tried to charge towards the farmers.

But EFF leaders stopped members from engaging the farmers.

Police Minister Bheki Cele, State Security Minister Ayanda Dlodlo, EFF leader Julius Malema and DA federal council chairperson Helen Zille are also Senekal.
