Former minerals resources minister Susan Shabangu, had to take the stand in the Farlam Commission of Inquiry, at Centurion, south of Pretoria.
The commission was investigating events that led to the death of 44 people during an unprotected strike by Lonmin mineworkers in august 2012, 34 of them miners who were killed in a brutal police shoot-out.
