Shallcross alleged gangster fatally shot, alleged killers beheaded and burnt

Three people have been killed in what is believed to be an ongoing drug turf war between gangs in Taurus Street, Shallcross, south of Durban.

It is alleged that two of the victims were beheaded and their bodies burnt.

The third victim, said to be a well-known drug kingpin in the area, died at a local hospital.

The shooting incident occurred at the alleged gangster’s property this afternoon.

According to the police – prior to the incident, Yaganathan Pillay, known as Teddy Mafia, told his daughter that he was expecting visitors.

She says she heard gun shots after she went to the back of their home, soon after the arrival of the suspects.

She then established that her father had been shot.

The community apprehended both suspects.

Durban Metro Police spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersad, says the suspects were shot dead before they were beheaded and burnt.

“Shortly after 15:00 this afternoon, the Durban metro police service was called out to Taurus Street in Shallcross area. Upon arrival, they established there were three persons shot and amongst the three, there was a male that was shot and taken to a local private hospital where he succumbed to the gunshot wounds. The other two suspects were shot dead, their bodies were pulled to the road way and bodies were beheaded and burnt. The scene is still active.”

When police officers arrived at the scene the community opened fire at them.

Police called in the Public Order Policing Unit, who dispersed the crowd with no injuries.
