There have been arrests following the formation of a task team to curb cash-in transit heists .

Seven suspects have been arrested following a cash-in transit heist on the N2 between Qumbu and Tsolo in the Eastern Cape.

Earlier two were apprehended after a shootout between police and suspects. A motorist was shot dead in the crossfire.

In the East of Johannesburg, five more suspects were caught after crime intelligence followed them. A Toyota Hilux was retrieved along with three firearms and bags of cash.

The arrests follow the formation of a task team to curb cash-in-transit heists which have escalated in the last few months.

Police are still searching for others who may be involved.
