The two farmworkers from Coligny in North West who have been convicted of murdering 15-year-old Matlhomola Moshoeu will be sentenced in the North West High court in Mahikeng on Monday.

Phillip Schutte and Pieter Doorewaard were found guilty of killing the boy for stealing sunflower in October last year.

Moshoeu died in April 2017 after falling off the bakkie they were travelling in. They were also found guilty of kidnapping, intimidation and pointing a firearm.

Moshoeu’s death sparked violent protests in the area that saw several houses and businesses in the town being burnt to the ground.
