Tributes continue pour in for Hugh Masekela

South African jazz icon and trumpeter Hugh Masekela died on Tuesday morning after a long battle with prostate cancer.

President Jacob Zuma has expressed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of internationally acclaimed jazz artist, cultural activist and liberation struggle veteran Hugh Masekela .

The legendary trumpeter passed on at the age of 78 after a long battle with prostate cancer.

In 2010, President Zuma bestowed the National Order of Ikhamanga in Gold to Hugh Masekela for his exceptional contribution to music and the struggle against apartheid in South Africa.

Meanwhile, United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader Bantu Holomisa says the late Bra Hugh’s contribution to South Africa was not only through his music but to the fight for freedom.
