Sports Minister Tokozile Xasa says 800-metre world champion Caster Semenya has a good chance of winning her case against the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF).

Semenya’s hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland, will be concluded on Friday.

Semenya is fighting the IAAF following a proposal that she must lower her testosterone levels in order to compete internationally.

Speaking from Switzerland, Xasa says Semenya’s case has been boosted by the involvement of the United Nations.

“We are here in Lausanne, Switzerland, to support our golden girl Caster Semenya. The entire 57 million South Africans are behind her. She must not feel that this is her own fight, but it would affect South African athletes, athletes from Africa, at the same time athletes throughout the world whose human rights continue to be violated because we think medically there’s no scientific evidence around it,” says Xasa.
