Scorching hot temperatures expected in KwaZulu-Natal

The South African Weather Service says extremely high temperatures are expected in KwaZulu-Natal as shoppers make their way to stores for Black Friday.

Emergency services personnel are on high alert to respond to any incidents following warnings of a heatwave sweeping across parts of the country.

Forecaster Ayanda Nsele says the heatwave is expected to persist throughout the weekend.

“Today we are mainly expecting sunny, very hot to extremely hot temperatures. We are expecting temperatures reaching to about 41 degrees Celsius  over Pietermaritzburg, Durban 33, and up north we are expecting about 35 to 40 degrees over areas like Ulundi. Today its going to be very hot we are encouraging people to drink lots of water stay hydrated and keep cool.”
