Highlights in the Science Wrap:

An African-led multi-country study has found that steroids should not be used by TB pericarditis patients with HIV, because of the risk of cancer.
Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Britain that will see cooperation in science worth R500 million.

Scholar and South African scientist, Professor Daya Reddy, has been elected as president of the International Council for Science at the General Assembly held in Auckland, New Zealand.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s second-biggest battery testing lab, based at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, is leading national research on batteries for electric cars, ‘stop-start’ vehicles and renewable energy traffic and street lights.
