Paseka Letsatsi has appealed to all social grant beneficiaries not to fall to this prey to this Christmas competition scam.

South Africa Social Security Agency (Sassa) spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi has issued a warning to all social grant beneficiaries to delete or report scam SMS’s sent to their phones.

The warning comes after scam SMS’s have been making the rounds on pensioners phones asking them to enter a Christmas competition by sending their ID numbers and Sassa and pin code numbers.

“Our Fraud management unity together with SAPS is working on the matter, and I think for now we would not talk about it because the investigations are still taking place. But, I am confident that very soon we will apprehend the criminals,” says Letsatsi.

Letsatsi has appealed to all social grant beneficiaries not to fall prey to this particular scam.
