Reading Time: 2 minutes

Luvo Manyonga’s men’s long jump gold medal on day seven was the highlight for Team SA on Wednesday of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games at Carrara Stadium in Australia.

Fellow South African Ruswahl Samaai took bronze in the same event

South Africa has won two bronze medals Thursday morning already. Alan Hatherley was third in the mountain bike race, behind two New Zealanders.

In the para-bowls, in the B6-8 category, they won a bronze medal, after beating England 16-13 in the play-off. Colleen Piketh and Nicolene Neal are also guaranteed a medal, because they’re through to tomorrow’s final in the women’s pairs, after an 18-10 win over Scotland.

South Africa is also guaranteed a medal in wrestling Thursday. Johannes Botha has won all his bouts in the 74kg freestyle division, and later this morning will take on India’s Kumar Sushil for the gold medal.

In the athletics heats Thursday morning, Jonathon Ntutu broke the Games record in the T12 100 metres, and he’ll be joined in the final by Hilton Langenhoven, with a 1-2 South African finish there a distinct possibility. Caster Semenya cruised through her 800 metre heat.

Wenda Nel takes part in the 400 hurdles final later, and Clarence Munyai will be the only South African in the 200 metres final, following the disqualification yesterday of Anaso Jobodwana.
