SA’s icy temperatures to persist

South Africans should brace themselves for more icy weather for the rest of the week as the cold front moves through the country.

The weather service says more snow and strong winds can be expected Tuesday and Wednesday in some regions.

In the Free State and Gauteng, minimum temperatures plunged to below minus degrees this morning and the cold conditions are expected to persist for the next few days.

KwaZulu-Natal authorities are on high alert as residents brace themselves for the cold conditions.

Forecaster Ayanda Nsele says strong winds are expected in various parts of the province, especially along the south coast.
