As of Thursday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases is at 572 865 after recording 3 946 new cases in the last 24 hours.
260 more people have died from COVID-19 related complications increasing the death toll to 11 270.
The Health Department records “68 deaths from the Northern Cape, 62 from the Free State, 30 from Gauteng, 39 from KwaZulu-Natal, 14 from Limpopo, 18 from Mpumalanga, 21 from the Western Cape and 8 from the Northern Cape.”
The total number of recoveries is 437 617, translating to a total recovery rate of 76%.
The Western Cape still has the highest number of fatalities in the country with 3 506 followed by Gauteng and Eastern Cape with 2 791 and 2 400 respectively.
