Reading Time: < 1 minute

Frustration is mounting at Bobbiespark SAPS Sports Ground in Bloemfontein where scores of members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) are meant to receive their COVID-19 jabs.

Members who arrived at early as 7am on Tuesday morning say they have been told that the vaccines are being transported to them but so far nothing has happened.

One of them spoke to SABC News on condition of anonymity.

“They said the vaccine will arrive at around 9/10. But still, there is no sign of arrival. Lately, they said at 12 they will start to vaccinate people but still, there is no sign of it. They keep saying it’s far as Kimberly and others saying it’s here in Bloemfontein but there is no sign of it.”

Police Minister Bheki Cele, Acting Health Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, and the National Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole are expected to lead the SAPS COVID-19 vaccination launch.

Cele and Sitole will be among those who will be vaccinated.

Over 180 000 police officers are expected to be vaccinated across the country.
