The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF ) has called for an investigation into the death threats directed at SABC’s Lesedi FM current affairs presenters.

Lesedi FM presenters received threats of death, kidnapping and rape this week.

SANEF statement below:

A message was sent to the station’s Senior Producer, Dimakatso Motsoeneng and mentions Current Affairs Presenters, Palesa Chubisi and Lahliwe Matsoso.

Threats were also directed to their children. In the message, presenters are blamed for the ANC’s defeat in Maluti-A-Phofung and Metsimaholo municipalities.

SANEF has also called for the ANC to conduct its own investigation and rein in its leaders who have publicly attacked the public broadcaster.

It believes that such attacks incite cyberbullying.
