According to City of Tshwane Emergency Services the military chopper crashed near the R101 road near the N-1 Freeway between Pretoria and Johannesburg.

Two South African National Defence Force (SANDF) personnel have been critically injured and rushed to hospital following a helicopter crash in Centurion, south of Pretoria.

According to City of Tshwane Emergency Services, the military chopper crashed near the R101 road near the N-1 Freeway between Pretoria and Johannesburg.

Traffic has been severely affected and motorists are advised to use alternative roads. Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson, Charles Mabaso says the cause of the crash is being investigated.

“Emergency services turned out to the scene and upon arrival there was a helicopter that had crashed at the scene.”

“Two critically injured patients were treated and transported to the first military hospital. At the moment the military has taken over the scene. The cause of the crash on R101 Old Joburg Road is not known at the moment.”
