Sakhir Formula One Grand Prix practice gets under way today

Reading Time: < 1 minute

First practice for the Sakhir Formula One Grand Prix gets under way in Bahrain at 3:25 on Friday afternoon.

French driver Romain Grosjean paid a visit to the Bahrain race track on Thursday, with heavily bandaged hands, but otherwise looking healthy.

He went to thank the medical delegates and marshalls who helped after his car burst into flame in such spectacular fashion last weekend.

The talk in the paddocks this week was all about him and his lucky escape.

It was also about George Russell, who will fill the rather large boots, figuratively speaking only, of Lewis Hamilton who tested positive for COVID-19.

“It’s been an intense 48 hours. Very anxious on Tuesday waiting to find out if we could strike a deal with Williams and they were, I need to say a massive thank you to them for allowing me this opportunity. I’ve got no expectations, no targets. Just build up to it over Friday. Learn as much as I can. Enjoy it and just do my best,” explains Russell.
