The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has appointed Vusimuzi Mkhize as it’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Mkhize is the former Director General of Sports, Arts and Culture, where he served from 2017 to 2022.

Late last month, acting CEO Chantal Kisoon, was suspended pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations that she made racial remarks at fellow staff members.

Acting Communications Coordinator, Wisani Baloyi says, “The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) wishes to inform members of the public of the appointment of Vusimuzi Mkhize as it’s Chief Executive Officer effective today, March 27, 2023. The commission warmly welcomes Mkhize and wishes him every success as he begins the journey of leading the secretariat of the commission to execute the mandate of the commission to promote and protect human rights and monitor and assess the observance in the Republic of South Africa.”
